I've always dreamed about being on national television. And, when I got a call from the Dr. Oz show, I was so excited to have the opportunity to witness a live studio audience. Yes, being on television could be very exciting, but especially being part of a segment about wellness!
As a Breast Cancer survivor, incorporating wellness in my everyday life has been a priority - whether it’d be exercise, eating right, or meditation. I’m all for it for I was ready!
Bring on the wellness Dr. Oz!
I’ve always been a fan of the Dr. Oz show. His show is quite refreshing and the Dr. Oz show has vital information about wellness that could really transform your life!
I was asked a few questions before going on the show, and I replied mostly to the questions about natural (raw) ingredients. I do think it is important to know what you are putting in your mouth. I really believe that we have to be conscious about what we put in our bodies.
Vital nutrition is imperative. Health comes first!
The (very early lol) morning of the show, I hopped on the subway from Harlem, NY and made my way into midtown. I was happy to be at the NBC Studios in Rockefeller Center!! Carmelina was in the building!
I was graciously escorted to the “guest lounge” and was prepped for my segment. I snacked on fruits and veggies. Yum! The production assistant was quite courteous and she asked me to “speak loudly” so the entire audience could hear me. I giggled because although I am quite boisterous on social media, in real life, I am actually soft spoken. This was my biggest challenge.
I am singer and that’s quite easy but projecting my normal voice…okay we’ll see…
As I made my way to meet Dr. Oz on the set, I wasn’t nervous or even intimidated by all the cameras and the audience. I was actually thrilled to connect with the people. People fascinate me! I was in my element.
Dr. Oz was very cool, when he asked me questions about what products I use to keep my skin looking youthful and hot, I had to agree with him – raw ingredients. Don’t get me wrong, women go through a lot of products just to find out what works best for their skin. There is nothing wrong with that.
I was born in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic, and as a curious child, I witnessed my aunts using all kinds of natural beauty routines. For example, avocados as moisturizers, conditionifng their hair with mayonnaise, using olive oil to treat wounds and dry lips, etc etc..
After completing my chemotherapy treatment, I noticed my skin was a bit dry and aging a little faster than girls my age. So, I went on a mission to reverse the clock by eating healthy everyday, managing my schedule a bit better and having acupuncture treatments twice a week. I was adamant about regaining my healthy glow with a balanced life and diet, and of coure, by including raw retinol (Vitamin A) in my daily beauty regimen!
I am sure Dr. Oz can attest to that lol
All I know is that raw ingredients should not be taken lightly for it is where the essence of pure nutrition exists. Our bodies know that.
Maybe it’s time to listen up and reverse the clock!
Take action! Wellness is the new black!
